The National Land Commission Chairperson Dr. Abdillahi Sagaaf Alawy in the company of Commissioners and CEO Kabale Tache on Thursday evening visited the Mwache Multipurpose Dam project site in Kwale County to see the significant progress made so far.
The visit provided an opportunity for the Chair and the other new Commissioners to witness firsthand progress in this multi-purpose infrastructure project which aims to enhance water supply to the sorrounding areas.
NLC has been instrumental in the execution of the project in so far as land acquisition and compensation is co mn concerned. Lives, livelihoods and communities have been changed through NLC and the partners’ efforts.
The chair commended all the stakeholders implementing the project for the strides made so far ensuring the project remains on track to deliver its intended benefits of improved water security and agricultural development.
“As a commission we remain committed to facilitating compulsory land acquisition, issuance of awards, and fair compensation processes in line with constitutional mandates in all current and future projects.” Dr Sagaaf said.
“We will continue to provide oversight to safeguard public interest and protect the rights of landowners.” He added.
