The National Land Commission (NLC), Homa Bay County Office today participated in a public baraza held in Rachuonyo West, graced by the Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo.
The forum brought together key government stakeholders, including the County Commissioner, the National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO), KeRRA, Kenya Power (KPLC), the National Irrigation Authority, and other government departments, to engage members of the public on issues affecting service delivery and community development.
Speaking during the forum, the NLC County Coordinator, Ms. Violet Odawa, appreciated the continued partnership and collaboration between the Ministry of Interior and National Administration and the National Land Commission in safeguarding public land, particularly public school land.
Ms. Odawa also sensitized the public on the Commission’s “Piga Nduru” initiative, which encourages members of the public to report cases of encroachment, illegal occupation, grabbing, or any other threats to public land. She further urged public schools that are yet to acquire title deeds to take the necessary steps towards processing their titles to secure school land for current and future generations.
The National Land Commission remains committed to working closely with national and county government institutions, local communities, and other stakeholders to protect public land and promote secure land rights for sustainable development.
