The National Land Commission officials led by Commissioner Hon. Esther Murugi and Ag Chief Executive Officer Kabale Tache on Tuesday hosted West Pokot County officials in a consultative forum to review their County Spatial Plan 2022-2032.
Speaking during the meeting Hon. Murugi commended the County Government of West Pokot for their effort in developing the spatial plan, noting that several counties were yet to come up with the document.
Once developed will help in the general planning of the land across the county.
She pledged the Commission’s technical support for counties that reach out to the commission for assistance in developing the plan. She further stated the Commission has prepared several tools to aid the development of the county spatial plan.
“We as Commission have developed several tools including oversight and monitoring tools that will help during the development stages of this important document.” Said Hon. Murugi.
“We are pleased that West Pokot County has joined other 10 counties who have completed the development of County Spatial Plan,” She added.
On her part, Ag CEO Ms Kabale Tache thanked development partners who have come in handy in offering both technical and financial support to the counties during the development of the county spatial plan.
“We are ready to offer technical support to the counties,” said the CEO.
Land Use Planning Director Charles Kagema, West Pokot County Executive Member in charge of Lands, Housing and Physical Planning Ms Esther Chelimo and the Chief Officer Mathew Rionokol led the West Pokot County delegation that met with NLC team.
