In line with its mandate to resolve land disputes and safeguard the rights of Project Affected Persons (PAPs), the National Land Commission (NLC) is conducting intensive field grievance redress sessions this week along the Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project (HoAGDP) corridor.

The engagements are taking place in settlements affected by the upgrade of the Isiolo–Kulamawe–Modogashe Road, a key infrastructure project aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and economic integration.

To ensure comprehensive coverage, the exercise is being carried out by two dedicated teams. One team, led by Senior NLC Valuer Josiah Laibuni, is engaging communities from Isiolo through Gambela, Ndumuru, Bullo, Kachuru, Yaqbarsadi, Kulamawe and Garbatula.
The second team, led by Principal Valuer Peter Kaunda, is covering the eastern corridor, including Bulo 2, Barkuke, Eldere, Eldera, Janju, Kambi Samaki and Modogashe Township.

Ahead of the exercise, the teams paid courtesy calls to the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Garbatula Mr. Charles Wandimi and the Area Chief of Modogashe location Mr. Mohamed Abagala who welcomed the initiative and emphasized collaboration in addressing grievances. The sessions are addressing key issues such as claims of omitted PAPs, succession cases that have since arisen, delay in dusbursement of funds, etc.

The Commission and KeNHA are presently handling the project under 3 Packages:
Package 1 (Isiolo – KulaMawe – Modogashe)
Package 2 (Wajir -Tarbaj – Kotulo Wajir),
Package 3 (Kutulo Mandera – Kobo – Elwak), and Land Acquisition in Isiolo and Meru Counties).

NLC remains committed to ensuring all affected persons are heard and supported throughout the project implementation process.
