The National Land Commission Homa Bay County Office, led by the NLC County Coordinator Ms. Violet Odawa, on Wednesday joined Homa Bay County Commissioner Mr. Ronald F. Mwiwawi, officials from the Ministry of Lands, the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), and the County Security Team in conducting a Joint Land Clinic at Pala in Rachuonyo North Sub-County.
The forum provided an opportunity for residents to engage directly with government institutions on various land matters and receive guidance on issues relating to succession, boundary disputes, land ownership, land administration, and the relationship between land and security.
Speaking during the event, Homa Bay County Commissioner Mr. Ronald F. Mwiwawi noted the significant reduction in cases of insecurity arising from land-related disputes in recent months. He further observed that the Pala Land Clinic marked the inaugural exercise in a countywide outreach programme that will be conducted across all the 12 sub-counties of Homa Bay County, reaffirming the commitment of government institutions to bringing services closer to the people.
Addressing the gathering, the National Land Commission Homa Bay County Coordinator Ms. Violet Odawa, encouraged members of the public to embrace Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Traditional Dispute Resolution (TDR) mechanisms in resolving land disputes. She further emphasized the need to safeguard public land and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspected cases of land grabbing, encroachment, or other unlawful activities on public land.
The Joint Land Clinic underscores the commitment of the National Land Commission and its partners to strengthening land governance, enhancing access to land services, and promoting secure land rights through citizen engagement and inter-agency collaboration.
