The National Land Commission Chief Executive Officer Kabale Tache on Wednesday appeared before the National Assembly standing committee on Public Petitions to respond to address the resettlement of the Kuria people on their ancestral land in Moyoi, Transmara, Narok County.

The CEO informed the committee that in 2019 the Commission heard and issued a formal determination on the matter.

She said that this decision was meant to resolve the historical land injustice claim filed by the Kuria community, however, the court quashed this determination after Angata Barakoi farmers and others challenged this in court.

The CEO who was accompanied by Directors Dr. Samwel Nthuni (Land Administration and Management), Brian Ikol (Legal and Dispute Resolution) and Edmond Gichuru (Head of Historical Land Injustice) reaffirmed NLC’s unwavering commitment to its mandate. We remain fully dedicated to supporting the lawful and just redress of all historical land injustices across the country.
