National Land Commission holds Consultative Meeting with World Bank

The National Land Commission (NLC) today convened a high-level consultative meeting with representatives from the World Bank to deliberate on the digitization and automation of land acquisition processes in Kenya.

This engagement marks a significant step in the Commission’s ongoing efforts to modernize land acquisition process and enhance service delivery.

The meeting was chaired by NLC Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Kabale Tache, who emphasized the need for a system that simplifies operations, enhances accessibility, and promotes transparency.

“The Commission requires a system that is integrated and accessible to all stakeholders, as we work with various organizations. Additionally, we must consider the security of the system, particularly in this era of increasing cyber threats,” she noted.

The Commission’s Director of Finance & Corporate Planning, Mr. Ben Cherutich, highlighted the importance of digital transformation in streamlining operations, improving efficiency, and promoting transparency in land transactions.

The session featured detailed presentations and system demonstrations by three technology firms, each showcasing its proposed digital solution for automating the land acquisition process.

The service providers outlined key system functionalities, data security protocols, and the scalability of their platforms to support NLC’s nationwide operations.

Stakeholders from both the NLC and the World Bank actively engaged during the presentations, raising critical questions to assess the viability, security, and reliability of the proposed solutions.

This consultative approach is part of NLC’s commitment to adopting a secure, user-friendly, and robust system capable of handling large volumes of data and serving users across all regions of the country.
