The National Land Commission (NLC) CEO Kabale Tache today hosted the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Irrigation, CPA Ephantus Kimani, along with officials from the Ministry of Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation.

During this crucial meeting, strategies to expedite the land acquisition process for Phase 1 of the Lower Nzoia Irrigation Project, which covers areas in Busia and Siaya Counties were identified. This project is pivotal for improving irrigation systems and boosting agricultural productivity within the region.

The discussions were highly constructive, with NLC representatives and ministry officials exploring various approaches to accelerate the processing of compensation payments and to ensure timely access to land for the project contractor. This collaboration underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in advancing national development initiatives and meeting the agricultural needs of local communities.

The NLC remains committed to partnering with the Ministry of Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation to overcome any procedural challenges that might hinder project progress. The Commission aims to facilitate the successful implementation of the Lower Nzoia Irrigation Project, which will play a significant role in enhancing food security and the overall agricultural landscape in Kenya.
