The National Land Commission Commissioner, Hon. Tiyah Galgalo, today graced the 12th Annual National Indigenous Women Conference, organized by Samburu Women Trust, as the Chief Guest, where she delivered a keynote address at Elboran Hotel.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the National Land Commission’s commitment to promoting equitable land governance, securing community land rights, and strengthening the meaningful participation of Indigenous women in land governance.
Speaking under the theme, “Rangelands and Pastoralists: Lands in Motion, Women as Stewards of Knowledge and the Future,” the Commissioner emphasized that Indigenous women are custodians of community land, culture, and traditional knowledge, whose leadership is essential in building resilient communities and advancing sustainable development.
She urged all stakeholders to work together to protect community land, preserve Indigenous knowledge, and empower Indigenous women as equal partners in shaping Kenya’s sustainable future. She concluded by congratulating the Indigenous Women Council on its anniversary.
