The National Land Commission Chairperson, Dr. Abdillahi Alawy, accompanied by the commissioner Vincent Kigen and the CEO, Kabale Tache, paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Turkana County Commissioner, Julius Kavita, and later visited the office of the Turkana County Governor, H.E. Jeremiah Lomorukai. Their discussions focused on the compulsory acquisition of Kapese Land for the Lokichar Oil Project.
Following those engagements, the team proceeded to Kapese in Lokichar to meet directly with the community and local leadership. They listened to the grievances raised by the residents and assured them that the National Land Commission is now fully constituted, with new commissioners in place, and their concerns and worries will be addressed without further delay.
As an enabler of H.E. President Dr. William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), the Commission will actively engage the State Department of Petroleum, Gulf Energy, and local leadership to reach a common ground. The Commission’s goal is to ensure that this strategically important project continues seamlessly and without interruption.
The chairperson was also accompanied by: National Land Commission Director for Valuation and Taxation -Joel Ombati; Head of Survey Services- Sospeter Ohanya; and NLC Coordinator for Turkana County – Mark Ewesit Ewoi.
