NLC and Editors Guild Forge Strategic Partnership for Better Land Rights Reporting

The National Land Commission (NLC) and the Kenya Editors Guild (KEG) held a consultative meeting to explore areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening land governance through responsible media engagement.
NLC CEO Kabale Tache emphasised that the media is a key partner in promoting transparency, accountability, and accurate reporting on land matters. Proposed areas of collaboration include developing a Media Handbook on Media Reporting on Land Governance, capacity building for editors and journalists, structured information-sharing, and joint public awareness campaigns on land rights.
KEG CEO Linda Bach welcomed the partnership, lauding NLC’s openness and commitment to constructive media relations, while emphasizing the importance of training and regular engagement forums. NLC reaffirmed its mandate to serve Kenyans through facts, information, and transparency, noting that a free and professional media plays a vital role in accountability and protection of land rights for all Kenyans.
“The National Land Commission stands ready to walk this journey with the Kenya Editors Guild – openly, professionally, and in mutual respect. Together, we can elevate the national conversation on land and serve the Kenyan people better,” Ms Kabale said.
