A NIGHT OF REFLECTION AND FAREWELL AS NLC CHAIR AND SIX COMMISSIONERS CALLS IT A DAY.

On Thursday, November 13, 2025, Sarova Panafric Hotel hosted a dinner in honor of the outgoing National Land Commission (NLC) Commissioners, marking the conclusion of their six-year term of service.

The dinner brought together dignitaries, staff, and partners to celebrate a remarkable journey of leadership, reform, and dedication in Kenya’s land sector.

In her remarks, Commission Secretary and CEO, Ms. Kabale Tache Arero, MBS, expressed deep gratitude to the Commissioners, noting that “tonight is not just a farewell it is a tribute; a tribute to dedication, to service, and to a legacy that will continue to shape the future of land management in our nation for generations to come.”

NLC Chairperson, Mr. Gershom Otachi, EBS, reflected on the Commission’s term, describing it as “quite a ride, a busy but fulfilling journey.” He expressed appreciation for the strong working relationship with Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Hon. Alice Wahome, EGH, emphasizing the mutual respect for each institution’s mandate. Mr. Otachi highlighted that during their tenure, the Commission had strengthened systems and done its best to advance land governance, encouraging those remaining to “carry the torch forward.”

Guest speakers, Hon. Alice Wahome, EGH, CS Ministry of Land, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development commended the Commission for its collaborative spirit and commitment to reform.

The CS applauded the harmonious relationship between the NLC and the Ministry of Lands, describing the two as “institutions of government working in complementarity, not competition.

She further praised the Commissioners for their well-documented Exit Report and six years of dedicated service to Kenya’s land governance.
