NLC CEO APPEARS BEFORE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON IMPLEMENTATION AND CAJ

The National Land Commission Chief Executive Officer Kabale Tache on Thursday appeared before the National Assembly Committee on Implementation in a session that primarily focused on addressing the recommendation of the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, which arose from a public petition about the alleged demolition of houses and repossession of land in Langata Cemetery in Nairobi.
In her presentation, the CEO informed members of the committee that the parcel of land in question has not undergone the necessary degazzettement and that the commission is legally constrained from taking any direct action until the preliminary legal step is formally completed.
She assured the Mps’s of the National Land Commission’s commitment in implememnting the recommended actions as soon as de-gazettment process is finalised.
Later in the afternoon, the CEO also appeared Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ) to respond to a complaint filed by Kiziwi Self-Help group.
The CEO informed the Ombudsman that the complaint had been fully booked in the Historical Land Injustice record and that the Commission had made a ruling and communicated to the claimants after conducting an investigative hearing on the matter in question
In Parlaiment, the CEO was accompanied by Director Land Administration and Management Dr Samwel Nthuni while at CAJ she was accompanied by Head of Historical Land Injustices Edmond Gichuru among other secretariat staff.
